Para-Aramid Wiring Harness Tape
SGK5-05 is a 5.0 mil (0.127 mm) thick Para-aramid tape designed to protect the integrity of the wire insulation for wire harnesses mostly in aerospace where standard fiberglass insulation tape is insufficient to meet the demands of abrasion resistance and high temperature.
It is used in specific maintenance procedures to protect wires that are held by clips. It provides protection from the vibration of the airplane to prevent the metal wire clip from cutting through the wire’s insulation.
SGK5-05 meets General Electric specification A22C7 and comes with ATS and Manufactuer’s Certificate of Conformance with full test reports.

SGK5-05 is manufactured from extra-strength, para-aramid (phenyleneterephthalamide) fiber cloth, impregnated with a dispersion of anti-static PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). This high-performance coated fabric then has a layer of high temperature silicone adhesive applied to one side. The black pigmentation provides anti-static performance and protection from UV damage, to which para-aramid fiber cloth is susceptible. Resistivity of this version is less than 106 ohms/in2.
SGK5-05 is specifically designed to resist abrasion, and provide added strength in high temperature cable wrapping applications where standard fiberglass cloth do not provide adequate chemical resistance and/or low friction release.
The SGK5 tape is primarily used in aerospace for use with the specific maintenance procedures to protect wires that are held by clips. It provides protection from the vibration of the airplane, because the metal wire clip will cut through the insulation of the wire if there isn’t an additional layer of protection. The SGK5-05 meets spec General Electric A22C7 and is designed to protect the integrity of the wire insulation.
